About Our Farm

Farmer-owners Shae & Anna Pesek

We started Over the Moon to show that meat can be produced differently — with respect for animals, the land, and the families who enjoy it. From the very beginning, our goal has been to raise animals in low-stress, pasture-based environments using practices that improve soil health and strengthen our local ecosystem.

Our animals live happy, healthy lives. Our pigs are raised on barns and dry lots using traditional methods, while our poultry and lamb graze on pasture. Our grass-fed beef is sourced from young farmers in the area who share our commitment to ethical farming.

Every decision we make is guided by care — for the animals, the land, and the people who eat our meat.

How We Do It

At Over the Moon, we don’t just raise animals. We carefully produce meat that nourishes our community.

  • Animal Care: Low-stress environments and thoughtful pasture rotation keep animals healthy and deeply flavorful.
  • Processing: We work with trusted local processors to ensure every cut meets our standards.
  • Delivery: Farm-to-freezer service ensures freshness and peace of mind — no middlemen, no industrial shortcuts.

Why We Do It

Our mission is simple: raise healthy animals, respect the land, and provide families with real, flavorful meat.

We believe that when animals are raised well and the land is cared for, everyone benefits — from the farm to your table.

Every season, our animals’ diets, pasture rotation, and daily care are designed to maximize flavor and nutrition, because happy animals make happy meals.

Meet Your Farmers

Shae and Anna Pesek are the co-owners and operators of Over the Moon Farm & Flowers LLC. We’re proud to be part of the just 9% of farmers who identify as young producers, and among the 26% of those who are under 35.

Thank you for supporting our growing business and believing in the future of ethical, community-based agriculture.

A History of Family Farming

Shae Pesek grew up on her family’s farm in Coggon, Iowa — the same land where she and Anna farm today. She has been raising cattle and crops for most of her life and was deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, showing goats, sheep, and rabbits for over 20 years.

Shae attended San Diego State University, where she majored in Women’s Studies and served as president of her queer-based sorority for two years. Today, she continues to farm alongside her family while growing Over the Moon with Anna.

Finding Our Way Here

Anna moved to Iowa from the East Coast in early 2016 after graduating college and spending time working in a big city. She studied agriculture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was involved in the student-run vegetable farm and the local food community.

Her passion for agriculture grew from stories of her grandparents’ former apple orchard in Northern California and from close relationships with local dairy farmers near her hometown.

Anna now lives in Coggon, Iowa with Shae and is grateful to be putting down roots in the place she’s been lucky to call home.

Our Story

Over the Moon is a love letter. To each other — and to our community, the land, the animals that sustain us, the blooms, and the big skies.

It’s a love letter to our wildest dreams, our younger selves, and the next generation of this place.

We fell in love feeding bottle calves — in the rhythm, the care, the patience, and the deep commitment to place.

Unwavering. Nourishing.
