Shae & Anna Pesek are the co-owners & operators of Over the Moon Farm — and hopefully, your farmers!
We started Over the Moon Farm in 2019 with growing flowers, sweet corn, and calves (hence the logo).
Slowly, we've shifted to be the direct to consumer meat brand of our dreams, working to embody the food and farm system we believe so deeply in. One that values rural vitality, partnerships, clean water, grazing animals, diverse farmers and farms, and delicious and accessible food.
But perhaps just as importantly...
Over the Moon Farm is a love letter.
To each other — and to our community, the land, the animals that sustain us, the blooms, and the big skies.
It’s a love letter to our wildest dreams, our younger selves, and the next generation of this place.
We fell in love feeding bottle calves — in the rhythm, the care, the patience, and the deep commitment to place.

A History of Family Farming
Shae Pesek grew up on her family’s farm in Coggon, Iowa — the same land where she and Anna farm today. She has been raising cattle and crops for most of her life and was deeply involved in 4-H and FFA, showing goats, sheep, and rabbits for over 20 years.
Shae attended San Diego State University, where she majored in Women’s Studies and served as president of her queer-based sorority for two years. Today, she continues to farm alongside her family while growing Over the Moon with Anna.
Finding Our Way Here
Anna moved to Iowa from the East Coast in early 2016 after graduating college and spending time working in a big city. She studied agriculture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and was involved in the student-run vegetable farm and the local food community.
Her passion for agriculture grew from stories of her grandparents’ former apple orchard in Northern California and from close relationships with local dairy farmers near her hometown. Anna has called Iowa home for the last decade.
Where We Are Today
Over the Moon today looks nothing like the business we started in 2019. We're not the same people we were back then, either. Motherhood, building a business, growing and maturing, dramatically changing our product mix... everything in between has changed us!
Slowly, we've shifted to be the direct to consumer meat brand of our dreams. We started with two sows in 2021, and now we primarily raise farrow to finish pigs. We also raise Thanksgiving turkeys, some chicken, and we aggregate other meats when the production is aligned with our values and vision for a resilient and diverse Iowa.
